Living Altar Offering:
Seeds for the Stupa
June 2024
ink, paper, time, people, ritual, meditation
For ONTOPO 2024 @ Baklimsa (The Catskill Zendo)
An offering to the land, to the temple grounds, to the Buddhist monks, their teachings, the structures, the ancestors, and everything they symbolize. The intention was to honor them deeply with our participation and our practices.
The participants walked in a circle around the stupa, while Sal created 12 ink paintings on long strips of paper, branching outward from the center of the structure.
Symbolizing the passing of time, the energy that emanates and radiates outward from our concentrated intention, the planting of seeds, and the rooting that happens, as we grow, nourish, and tend to the multidimensional connections we form.
